Estimation of incident dynamic AUC in practice

    Get PDF
The incident/dynamic time-dependent AUC (Area Under the ROC Curve) is an appealing measure to express the discriminative value of a dynamic survival model over time. However, estimation of this measure is not straightforward. Four recently proposed estimation approaches are studied. In an extensive simulation study, a head-to-head comparison between these four estimation methods is made. The estimation algorithms of some of the methods are extended. Results are illustrated with a motivating dynamic survival model from Reproductive Medicine. (C) 2020 The Authors. Aim. To compare the long-term effectiveness of care delivered by a clinical nurse specialist (CNS) with inpatient team care and day patient team care in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and increasing functional limitations. Background. The role of CNSs in the management of patients with rheumatoid art

An introduction to joint models-applications in nephrology

In nephrology, a great deal of information is measured repeatedly in patients over time, often alongside data on events of clinical interest. In this introductory article we discuss how these two types of data can be simultaneously analysed using the joint model (JM) framework, illustrated by clinical examples from nephrology. As classical survival analysis and linear mixed models form the two main components of the JM framework, we will also briefly revisit these techniques
